The 1990s… TV… it could be a weird place, and there was plenty of weirdness to go around.  One TV such TV show was COPROCK, produced by Steven Bochco.  Now, Bochco had some pretty good TV programs under his belt, like Hill Street Blues, LA Law, Doogie Howser, MD and NYPD Blue.  Coprock was not such a show.  In fact, it ranked #8 on TV Guide.s List of the 50 Worts TV Shows of All Time, calling it “The single most bizarre TV musical of all time.”  It was pretty bad.

But one song from the series has stuck with me all of these years, and it’s as relevant today as it was then, and probably will be so in 50 years.  The song featured the Chief of Detctives wailing his tune in the middle of a busy police station.  The song was “QUITCHERBITCHIN.”  I sometimes hear it in my head when I slip and begin to complain about things I really don’ have to subject myself to, and I take a step back and, hopefully, get my head back on just a little bit straighter.
So, from this “terrible” TV show, I was able to mine a gem of value.  It’s like that with most things, and a reason why we should keep an open mind.  You never know where that spark of inspiration that will lead to enlightenment will come from.
