With deliberate steps I walk the perimeter,<\/p>\n

Salt streaming from my closed fist<\/p>\n

Like seeds for an invisible garden,<\/p>\n

Marking the boundary between worlds.<\/p>\n

Here: where ordinary time stops.<\/p>\n

Here: where intention becomes reality.<\/p>\n

Here: where I am both priest and congregation,<\/p>\n

Both question and answer.<\/p>\n

The white crystals catch moonlight,<\/p>\n

Each grain a small commitment<\/p>\n

To the belief that we can create<\/p>\n

Pockets of power in powerless times.<\/p>\n

Inside this circle, I am sovereign.<\/p>\n

Inside this circle, magic is practical<\/p>\n

As bread rising, as blood flowing,<\/p>\n

As the earth turning toward spring.<\/p>\n

When morning comes I’ll sweep it up,<\/p>\n

Return the salt to kitchen shelf,<\/p>\n

But tonight it holds the space<\/p>\n

Between who I am and who I’m becoming.<\/p>\n

The circle is drawn.<\/p>\n

The circle is cast.<\/p>\n

The circle holds<\/p>\n
