The LHP Island

aghori 1

~Mistress Babylon Consort, Sect of the Horned God

There are times I wish I could sink the islands that compromise the LHP universe. The logical thing to do would be to fix the holes in at least one of the battered boats that line the dock, and sail from shore to shore. I’d even be willing to help repair a few, but why bother. Though that would be one step toward ‘bigger change’, you still can’t lead a horse to the pond if they are happy slurping from their ‘near autonomous’ trough. What gets me thinking like this? What’s most frustrating on the road I have chosen? It’s the holes in my own boat that leave me on the island drinking from a common well. The trigger for some time now has been reading of Aghori lifestyle and philosophy, as well as others that are similar to them. While I am an atheist, that does not mean that the ‘spiritual’ side of their practice is without meaning, that it cannot be incorporated. It can, should and will be. There are times I am ashamed when considering my own limited view of the world, for allowing myself to even consider entertaining the thought of engaging in the seedy rituals acted out on the island playground. On the island, my voice is merely anothers broken record when personal introspection is only skin deep. If I can’t smash my own taboos, it would be arrogant to think that I smash those of others and be heard with a minimum of courtesy. It’s time to go sailing.

Trading Faiths

full moon

By Mistress Babylon Consort

Bashing religion is easy, and in of itself becomes a faith for those who make it their mantra. Any new idea or cause born of personal passion will initially and whole-heartedly encompass our entire being, but the idea that anyone would willingly stand still on their path at the embryotic stage remains disturbing. It is little more than blindly trading one faith for another. What is the point of that? The scope of this beautiful world we live in, with its often insidious underbelly, is nearly inconceivable in its vastness and we have little time to explore it. But we have to try. Question everything. To build the walls of faith around you, in all its guises, is as good as giving up.

A Brief Description of Dionysianism

dio

By The Darkf00l

Dionysianism is a philosophy based on the dichotomy presented within the literary concept of the “Apollonian and Dionysian.” Mythically, the Greek gods Apollo and Dionysus were brothers. Apollo was the god of the sun and of reason, while Dionysus was the god of wine, intoxication, and madness. Unlike some myths where brothers of opposite qualities became enemies, Apollo and Dionysus never became rivals. It is this very relationship that lies at the core of the Apollonian and Dionysian dichotomy: the appearance of a contradictory nature which is actually a harmonious blend of opposite qualities.

Amongst the many philosophers who invoked the Apollonian and Dionysian dichotomy, it was Friedrich Nietzsche who contributed the most within his book “The Birth of Tragedy.” Within his book, Nietzsche attributes the dichotomy to the “Kunsttrieben” or “artistic impulses”. The Apollonian portion of the dichotomy represented characteristics such as the visual-plastic arts, the detached observer (or objective artist), rational/logical reason, and individuation. It’s opposite qualities, the Dionysian, represented the musical-intuitive arts, the frenzied participant (such as a dancer), the irrational/non-logical, and the dissolution of the self through the frenzied acts (in other words, wholeness).

Within my book, “Way of the Dionysian,” I take the Apollonian and Dionysian’s harmonious relationship a step further by correlating it with various concepts and with various spiritual paths and systems; particularly branding Dionysianism a Middle Path philosophy as it is comprised of both Right-Hand Path and Left-Hand path philosophies. My book will delve into the fluctuations between individuation and wholeness and how the transversal of both can benefit the individual and whichever group he or she happens to associate with. Other themes that correlate to the juxtaposition of opposite qualities as one include the life/death instinct (Freudian and Jungian), and, greatest of all, the “Zero Current” which is the universe’s own interplay of both order and chaos; causing evolution to occur on both a microcosmic and macrocosmic scale.

Piper of the Moon

fauns

By Thomas LeRoy, founder of the Sect of the Horned God

His pipes lament,
Under the frost-white moon.
A melancholy air echoes in the stillness of the field,
A sombre, untamed ode to Life,
Made manifest by breath.
He calls her.

The scent of the raw, moist earth,
The scent of the flora,
The scent of her;
Drifts upon the ecstasy of Being,
Carved out of the longing of the Flesh,
To know her.

Then, a fleeting glimpse!
A wraith?
A soft, white figure veiled in the mist,
Flowing black hair, a cowl of silk,
As she melts into the night with a laugh.
The nymph evades his song.
His lust.
Him.

The Art Of Kris Kuksi

By Mistress-Babylon Consort

Few artists have sparked a passion and appreciation so quickly, but Kris Kuksi is one of them. His intricate detail speaks volumes of myth, culture and imagination. Enjoy!

“All of us might wish at times that we lived in a more tranquil world, but we don’t. And if our times are difficult and perplexing, so are they challenging and filled with opportunity.”
~ Robert Francis Kennedy

Born March 2, 1973, in Springfield Missouri and growing up in neighboring Kansas, Kris spent his youth in rural seclusion and isolation along with a blue-collar, working mother, two significantly older brothers, and an absent father. Open country, sparse trees, and alcoholic stepfather, all paving the way for an individual saturated in imagination and introversion. His propensity for the unusual has been a constant since childhood, a lifelong fascination that lent itself to his macabre art later in life. The grotesque to him, as it seemed, was beautiful.
Kris Kuksi garners recognition and acclaim for the intricate sculptures that result from his unique and meticulous technique. A process that requires countless hours to assemble, collect, manipulate, cut, and re-shape thousands of individual parts, finally uniting them into an orchestral-like seamless cohesion that defines the historical rise and fall of civilization and envisions the possible future(s) of humanity.

Each sculpture embodies the trademarks of his philosophy and practice, while serving as a testament to the multifaceted nature of perception – From timeless iconic references of Gods and Goddess, to challenging ideas of organized religion and morality, to the struggle to understand, and bend, the limits of mortality. None is complete without a final and brilliant touch of satire and rebuke all conceived in the aesthetic essence of the Baroque fused with the modern day industrial world.

In personal reflection, Kris feels that in the world today much of mankind is oftentimes frivolous and fragile, being driven primarily by greed and materialism. He hopes that his art exposes the fallacies of Man, unveiling a new level of awareness to the viewer.

His work has received several awards and prizes and has been featured in over 100 exhibitions in galleries and museums worldwide including the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Kris’ art can also be seen in a number of international art magazines, book covers and theatrical posters. Kris’ art is featured in both public and private collections in the United States, Europe, and Australia

Degrees of the Sect of the Horned God

psyche-cerberus
Greek Goddess, Psyche

By Thomas LeRoy, founder of the Sect of the Horned God.

It has become blatantly obvious to me that most people that claim to be on the “left-hand path” have no idea where that path is leading. They’ve ignored the fact that it’s a spiritual path, not in any supernatural sense, but one of self-awareness. This may sound like “New-Age” hippie jargon, but the difference between us and the bongo-playing, tied-dyed sheep is we understand it’s all psychological and to achieve “self-deification” (becoming your own god) entails the power of one’s own personal Will. Not from some “celestial blessings”.
What is the basic difference between the right-hand and left hand paths? On the right-hand path one’s goal is to follow the “light” to a great cosmic collective were all idividuality is destroyed and you become “One” with either God, the Goddess, Nature, or whatever. A person with a strong independent nature and a mind of their own should find this repugnant.
Now, the Left-hand path is the path of the antinomian, the individualist, the skeptic. At its core it is about creating your own “light”, and retaining one’s own idividuality through the shear power of the Will, thus resulting in self-deification.
We in the Sect of the Horned God would like to help our fellow travelers on the LHP to achieve this goal. But to do so may entail going deep into one’s own psyche.
Interested?
Good.
Welcome to the Path!

sigil A

First level: NEOPHYTE
Everyone enters the Sect as a Neophyte. This sigil represents the human being as beast. The objective of this organization is to help the individual to go beyond the stage of the simple animal and to reach “self-deification”. This is where the Sect of the Horned God differs with the Church of Satan. Just becase you declare yourself a “god” does not make you one. This is the reason stagnation is so rampant amongst those who call themselves “LaVeyan”. They step onto the left-hand path and just stand there, beating their chests, declaring their divinity, feeling no need for progression.
It is not mandatory that one goes beyond this level, but if one chooses to move up, send an email: sectofthehornedgod@hotmail.com, or message one of the admins of the Sect on Facebook.

ACOLYTE

Second: ACOLYTE
The second level, Acolyte, is represented by the sigil of the horned beast and the word “Pan” written in ancient Greek. Pan is not only the name of a god, but also the Greek word for “all”. At this stage one has denied “faith” thus leaving one open for “all wisdom and knowledge”. This does not mean that you are suddenly endowed with all the “knowledge of the universe”, it simply means the potential for learning is limitless now that the retarding influence of faith has been removed.

cenobite

Third: CENOBITE
The Cenobite sigil is represent by the horned beast and the inverted penticle. The pentacle, with the point downward, reflects the grounding one must have to reach self-deification. With the power of personal will, ultimate knowledge of one’s own individuality can be manifested at this level.

faun sigil

Fourth: HYPERBOREAN
This is the sigil of the Hyperborean, the highest level of the Sect of the Horned God. It is represented with the horned beast, the word “Pan”, and the pentacle. This symbolizes that one has reached a level that brings together a synthesis of the human as beast, the denier of faith and true self-awareness of the individual, thus leading to self-deification.

Zach Black and Sect of the Horned God

The Sect of the Horned God, a legal entity, was founded in 2011 by Thomas LeRoy and remains one of the fastest growing Atheistic Left-Hand Path organizations not only in the cyber-world, but in ‘real life’. The Sect remains connected with members and non-members through on-line venues and yearly festivals that have attracted thousands of people. Membership is exploding worldwide. With this success, however, there are those who chose to ride on the coat-tails of the Sect, rather than building their own vision: impersonators, scam artists, etc. We have all met them, and the Sect of the Horned God, like many before us, has had to deal with this type of malicious and foolish charlatan. I guess it comes with the package. There is only one Sect of the Horned God. Any others claiming to be and not sanctioned by Thomas LeRoy and Mistress Babylon Consort are simply not the real thing.
We are not theist and we are not going away.

The Sect of the Horned God would like to thank Zach Black, of the Satanic International Network for making this video.

Zach, Next time you’re in our home, we’ll make you breakfast again, anytime!

SATAN THEISTS: THE BLACK SHEEP OF THE RIGHT HAND PATH!

Tom

By Thomas LeRoy, Founder of the Sect of the Horned God

Question A: Are Modern Satanists just atheistic posers who like creepy shit?
Answer A: No.
Question B: Are Satan Theists nothing more than the black sheep of the right-hand path?
Answer A: Yes.
The Modern Satanist is an individual that understands that ritual and spell-casting are cathartic activities, and all mythological personnages are metaphorical. What these beings symbolize speaks to the subconscience, which is a larger part of the mind than the conscience. On the other hand the theist, be it Christian or Satanic, accepts the literal existence of their gods. They “believe” that these entities reside in some supernatural realm and that their personal deities are their masters. Here is one of the major problems with the Satan theist. A true person on the left-hand path bows down to no one. He is antinomian, an iconoclast and the supreme indidvidualist. By willingly calling anyone, be it real or imagined, “Master” makes one part of the flock. A sheep. Like the Christian, the Satan theist joyfully follows the “clank” of the bellwether’s bell, hopefully to salvation, but more often than not to the slaughter (metaphorically speaking. . . most of the time).
But what I really wonder is how many of them, the faithful, actually believe in Satan? I think very few. Many have listened to too much Death/Black Metal and are now on a rebellious kick to spite their Christian parents. But the parents need not worry, because most will have their fat asses back in the pews, begging the “Good Lord” to forgive them for going astray. Yet, some of them really believe, and they share that same ability with their Christian kin that the Modern Satanists lacks: The ability to ignore their doubts! I have greater respect for the Christians, though. They have a 2,000 year old tradition and many of them have been indoctrinated into the faith from the time of birth. Most Satan theists, on the other hand, were not raised as such. To try to give their faith some legitimacy they claim it predates the Bible. But in reality they take bits of Summerian mythology and add in a whole lot of nonsense they make up, then call it truth! They believe their own bullshit!
Come now, you theists, you D&D geeks that can’t seem to get out of that fantasy realm. Don’t you hear that voice in the back of your head telling you that you’re being really fucking silly? Maybe in your mind that voice is nothing more than a gentle whisper, but in my head it would be a deep-voiced sonofabitch with a bullhorn!
But you may ask, “Why would an atheist call themself a Satanist? Why even bother with the label?” Because we love myth! We understand its meaning! And Satan best represents our inherent nature. Myth and mythological beings should be looked at as metaphorical guides leading one to spiritual wholeness, not as living entities! By seeing myth as history, and mythological beings as real, the meaning of these wonderous allegorical tales is lost. They become misconstrued in the psyche. The believer thinks he’s been touched by the deity, but in truth it’s just a misinterpretation of the language of myth.
I will conclude with the words of the late Joseph Campbell: “To take myth literally would be like going into a restaurant, seeing beef-steak on the menu and you begin to eat the menu.”

Atheistic Nothingness

evil 1

By Mistress-Babylon Consort

“To the consternation of many of my fellow atheists, I often argue that the concept of “atheism” is unnecessary and misleading. Nearly everyone rejects Zeus, Thor, Isis, along with the countless other dead gods of antiquity, and yet no one feels the need to name this condition of unbelief. And so it is with every other species of bad idea: we don’t dub ourselves “non-astrologers,” “non-homeopaths,” and the like, and we need not define ourselves as “atheists” (or “secularists,” “rationalists,” “skeptics,” “humanists,” etc.) to disavow the false certainties of mainstream religion.” -Sam Harris

What do you think? I have to agree. There is no ‘real need’ to describe yourself as an Atheist for the very reasons just as Mr. Harris has suggested, but at the same time, entrenched in a society that labels ‘non-meat lunch meat’ as lunch meat, there is a social and interactive ease provided by the instant assimilation a label begs, whether negative or positive. Depending on the situation and who is asking, I will either admit I am an Atheist Satanist, one or the other, or say nothing at all . Attaching Satanism to my Atheistic label adds the color and texture of the wonderful and wild existence I choose as my life, based on the philosophy, mythology and ritual I incorporate into it. It does tend to confuse people at times, but I see it as a social short cut and a quick fix to escape any over-extended cocktail party when the need for morbid fascination, Servants of Satan style, exceedes thoughtful and intelligent query. There is a time and place for everything, and the need to move in my community with an ease that best suits my life and purpose is generally the marker, and indeed, is simply a situational acknowledgement to labels. Or not.
